Getting Here & Around

With non stop flights from Auckland to Adelaide, getting to South Australia has never been easier.

Adelaide Airport has also been voted Australia’s Capital City Airport of the Year by its peers at the 2009 Australian Aviation Industry Awards. It is the second time Adelaide Airport has won the award in the past four years!

However, if you prefer to travel via another Australian city, Adelaide is serviced by all the major airlines operating within Australia, and its the hub for trans-Australia rail travel.

If time is on your side, self driving into Adelaide is a popular and relaxing option. Spend 4 to 5 days travelling along the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne and discover the Limestone Coast, Kangaroo Island and Fleurieu Peninsula along the way.

South Australia also has an extensive network of bus and coach services, delivering you right into the heart of the city.

Once in Adelaide, Kiwis often comment on how easy it is to get around.

It’s a welcoming, friendly city just 15-minutes drive from the airport and 5-minutes from the train station.

Built in a grid pattern similar to Christchurch, the CBD is very flat and easily covered on foot.

If your feet start to tire, hop aboard the free tram which takes you around the inner city.

In fact, Adelaide’s called the 20-minute city because of all the places you can get to within 20 minutes including 10 fantastic beaches and the Adelaide Hills.

With short driving distances and very little traffic, it’s easy to make Adelaide your holiday base and discover South Australia’s regions on a series of day or overnight trips from the city.
