Shopping in Adelaide

You will love the variety

Flower Stall on Rundle Mall, Adelaide, South Australia

All you need to know for a bout of retail therapy in Adelaide is that good shopping starts in the heart of the city and spreads like tentacles in all directions.

Shopping hours in Adelaide are generally Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm, and Sunday 11am to 5pm. Extended shopping hours are to 9pm on Thursday in the suburbs and Friday in the city.

Late night shopping can be enjoyed at shopping centres throughout Adelaide’s city centre until 9pm on Fridays and Thursdays until 9pm in the suburban centres.

Rundle Mall is the retail hub of Adelaide with a dedicated precinct closed to traffic and filled with colourful flower stalls, buskers and street performers. International and national flagship stores, specialty fashion outlets and boutique stores can be found the length of Rundle Mall, and when you’re ready for a coffee break, make a stop at a local favourite - Cibo for a taste of some of Adelaide’s best coffee and pastries.

Off Rundle Mall in the city’s East End is Rundle Street, home to a surprising selection of boutique clothing stores and alfresco café and bars. Every Sunday from 9am to 4pm, the street is transformed into the Rundle Street Market where you can shop for locally made jewellery, fashion, art, handbags, shoes and more!

The home of outlet shopping in Adelaide is Harbour Town, located at West Beach - just 15 minutes drive from Adelaide. King William Road at Hyde Park is great for fashion, books and design, The Parade at Norwood is much loved by locals and visitors for its shopping and café life. While Magill Road around Norwood and Maylands is known for elegant European antiques through to funky 70s design.

Locals tip! Follow the Rundle Mall Discovery Trail and experience the pedestrian strip’s many quirks and features, from sculpture and art to the history of its buildings.
