Wildlife Parks

Koalas at Cleland Wildlife Park, Adelaide Hills, South Australia

Just 20 minutes from Adelaide, Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary is home to 100 species of birds and many native mammals.

Warrawong offers a unique opportunity to get amongst the Australian bush and wildlife in a protected habitat. Guided interpretive tours depart every evening at sunset when the animals are most active.

Ever wanted to hold a koala? At Cleland Wildlife Park you can! Touch and feed captivating wildlife in this open range wildlife sanctuary, just a scenic 20 minute drive from the city. Have your photo taken holding a koala, hand feed kangaroos and wander among Australian wildlife. Join animal keepers as they feed lorikeets, Tasmanian Devils, dingoes, water birds and other native animals.

At night the bush also comes to life. Accompany guides and share the nighttime world of Australia’s intriguing and endangered animals including potoroos, bettongs and bandicoots. Wallabies and kangaroos also become more active and alert at night. These tours are popular - make sure you book in advance.

Gorge Wildlife Park is not your average wildlife park; it’s a place where people and animals get together. Under shaded trees, paths meander amongst the animals offering many relaxing hours of wildlife enjoyment.

See all your favourite Australian animals; koalas, kangaroos and wallabies, dingoes and wombats including many rare albino varieties. Also exotic animals such as monkeys, alligators, meerkats and otters to be seen. Birds, some in enclosures but many free flying, from the Fairy Wren to the Ostrich and everything in between. Get up close and personal and ‘cuddle’ a koala. Feeding of the animals is permitted. Picnic areas with free gas barbeques, kiosk and souvenir shop. Koala handling times are 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm daily

Eco-tourism accredited Saunders Gorge Sanctuary is a private property of 1364 hectares located on the rugged eastern slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges overlooking the vast Murray Plains, 18 kilometres east of Mount Pleasant on the Walker Flat Road. The property is now a combination of conservation and sheep grazing, formerly Clovelly Sheep Station. The owners Brenton and Nadene Newman are dedicated to natural habitat preservation.

Some of the features of the sanctuary include a large array of native fauna, a wonderful diversity of native flora, spectacular rocky gorges with magnificent old red gum trees and spring filled water hole and steep, rugged hills covered in native grasses and shrubs. Saunders Gorge Sanctuary has Eco Tourism Accreditation.
