Clare Valley
Attractions & Activities...

Row upon row of elegant vines set beside untamed Australian bush; stone cottages on rolling fields (Irish emerald in winter, Tuscan yellow in summer); and rural villages famous for all the good things in life like cafés, pubs, art houses, antique shops and – of course – cellar doors. Spend long afternoons drinking in the views as well as the vintages at Paulett Wines, Mount Surmon and Eldredge Wines and you’ll come to see the real meaning of ‘wine appreciation’.
Food? Absolutely – those vistas are not only easy on the eye, they raise some of the finest crops, herds and flocks in the nation. You won’t drive far without spotting a farm shop, market or food outlet. You can savour the flavours of Clare Valley all over the region.
But just when you think you’re getting to know Clare Valley, prepare for some surprises… Wines made us famous, but mines and farming made us wealthy. Head east to discover Kapunda, Burra and the rich legacy of copper; then head west to see the great grain plains that were farmed by pioneers as they pushed north. Bungaree, North Bundaleer, Martindale Hall, Anlaby – grand properties all, standing testament to the massive fortunes carved from a land of opportunity.
Plus, keep an eye out for Tom Jones at the 2010 ‘A Day on the Green’ held annually in the Clare Valley! One of music’s most-loved and celebrated stars, Sir Tom Jones, will headline the next ‘A Day on the Green’concert at Annie’s Lane Winery in the Clare Valley on Saturday 6 March 2010. Special guest support artist will be David Campbell, a well known multi-talented performer and Artistic Director of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
