Cheese & Wine Trail

This was the brainchild of a drunken afternoon at Blessed Cheese, with the winemakers and cellar door staff of some of the Vale’s best wineries.
The trail is a progressive picnic, matching some of South Australia’s finest artisan-made cheeses with wines from some of the region’s best wineries. The cheese and wine matches develop across the day, starting with an acid curd and sharp, dry white, and culminating with a matured cheddar and full, tannic McLaren Vale red.
Patrons collect their hampers containing cheeses and accompaniments from Blessed Cheese in the Main Road of McLaren Vale, and head off for a 3 to 5 hour journey around the Vale. There’s a range of trail hampers to buy, from inexpensive to gold standard.
Participants are recognised by the wineries and encouraged to bring their cheeses into the cellar door, consuming them with the appropriate wine, or any others that may take their fancy.
