Outback Tracks

The South Australian Outback is one of the greatest desert 4WD destinations in the world.
Follow the trails blazed by the explorers, stockmen and Afghan camel drivers, the Overland Telegraph and the original Ghan railway.
Take the Birdsville Track between Maree and Birdsville. It’s 530 kilometres of legend and a tough stock route for drovers.
The Oodnadatta Track provides an unforgettable Australian holiday. You’ll pass the massive Lake Eyre system (roughly the size of Holland) and check out the longest fence in the world, the 5,300 km dog fence.
The Strzelecki Track covers 456 kilometres and takes you to the Innamincka Regional Reserve, an Outback oasis of waterholes, lined with ancient coolabahs and river gums.
Want to experience the true Aussie Outback tracks but don’t want to drive yourself? Check out some of these great South Australian Outback tours that depart from the Desert Cave Hotel in Coober Pedy.
