Gluepot Reserve
Visit this unique wildlife reserve...

Gluepot Reserve is located 1.5 hrs drive on well-maintained dirt roads north of Waikerie, in the semi-arid South Australian Mallee bush.
It is considered by many to be one of the crown jewels in the nation’s reserve scheme. This 50,000 hectare area of virgin mallee scrub contains no less than 6 nationally endangered bird species, plus unique flora and fauna adapted to the harsh conditions.
Its accessibility means it is one of the few areas in Australia where birdwatchers can relatively easily observe otherwise hard-to-find species.
Dozens of walking tracks take keen birders deep into the mallee and spinifex country where the birds abound. Or camp amongst the birds in camping grounds set in beautiful scrubland.
Many of the trees within the Mallee and Casuarina woodlands are hundreds of years old with numerous hollows. Such old-growth habitat is essential for many of the threatened species.
Gluepot Reserve celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 2008 and continues to win awards in biodiversity conservation, enhancement and management, scientific research and monitoring and sustainable ecotourism.
