Houseboating on the Murray River offers world-class accommodation at a surprisingly affordable cost.

First-time hirers are often amazed at the standard of on-board facilities, and how easy a houseboat is to handle. Most craft feature a lounge, dining area, separate bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and toilet, heating and cooling, television, video, outdoor furniture and barbecue. Linen is also provided - all you need to take is food, drinks and personal items.

Unforgettable Houseboats offer small or large houseboats that can accommodate from 2 to 12 passengers, and are an ideal way to enjoy the Murray River with a group of friends or family members. The choice is endless, with a boat to suit every taste and budget. Some can be so impressive it’s like travelling on a floating palace - onboard catering included!

Believe it or not, all you need to captain a houseboat is a car driving licence or motorboat licence. Prior to departure licensed operators provide full tuition, together with information on river conditions, mooring spots and boating rules. Tours and transfers can also be arranged.

The Houseboat Hirers Association can also put you in touch with number of other houseboat companies, offering both fully hosted/captained and self-drive options.
