South Australians celebrate the good life at wine and food festivals throughout the regions and Adelaide hosts a few of its own. No gourmand can afford to miss Tasting Australia. Showcasing the world’s top culinary talent, the biennial event (now held in May) is an opportunity to enjoy the best food, wine and hospitality that South Australia and the nation have to offer.

Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend
Wear your most elegant (and stretchy) clothes and really indulge yourself with a weekend away in one of the world’s premier food and wine destinations. On Saturday you’ll literally get a taste of things to come with samples of the year’s vintage before the winemaking process is complete - a privilege usually reserved only for vintners. Then on Gourmet Sunday you can start the day beside a bonfire, eating hand-made sausages and roasted tomatoes. Then, after a morning spent doing some leisurely wine tasting, sit down to a lunch of barbecued prawns with parmesan and saffron risotto while being entertained by a swinging jazz band.

Adelaide Hills Wine Festival - Crush
Spend the day at the Adelaide Hill’s revamped flagship food and wine event (previously known as the Hills Harvest Festival). Crush is a fabulous celebration of Adelaide Hills food and wine, which enables you to meander between various venues around the region. You will have the opportunity to experience the best of the region’s wiSouth Australian Wine and Food Eventsne served with a gourmet menu featuring fresh, local produce.

Barossa Vintage Festival
The Barossa Vintage Festival is the largest and longest running wine festival in Australia. Enjoy tastings, twilight concerts, a festival ball, literary events and much more. This is a biennial event that runs for a full week, encompassing all aspects of the Barossa community. Wineries are joined by businesses, civic groups, churches and individuals to stage the various activities that make up the festival.

Barossa Gourmet Weekend
Set your taste buds free with a weekend of indulgence in one of world’s best wine regions. Each of the cellar doors taking part in this event will be serving up a fine dining experience matched with premium wines and the smooth sounds of live music. Barossa Gourmet weekend is a fantastic opportunity to indulge in food, wine and music and famous hospitality in the beautiful Barossa. A range of entertainment to suit all tastes will be on offer at each of the venues.

Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations
Head down to one of Australia’s pre-eminent red wine regions for tastings, master classes, live music, gourmet food and the famous Barrel Series Auction where the finest barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon from the previous years vintage are auctioned. This event celebrates all that makes the Coonawarra wine region and includes 30 events over three days and has a myriad events for the red wine lover.

Fiesta!South Australian Wine and Food Events
Taste the spectacular food and wine of the region and meet the growers, producers, winemakers and chefs during the Fleurieu Peninsula’s month-long Fiesta! celebrations in October. Each year, a new and exciting program is introduced to the event, which usually includes the food chef of the region competition, the regional Olive Awards, plus many more culinary highlights.

Gawler Gourmet & Heritage Festival
A day of sampling fine food, ales and fabulous regional wines. Enjoy entertainment from South Australian musical performers from jazz to country to good old rock ‘n’ roll, in eight historic locations, from remarkable old pubs to an old iron foundry.

Kangaroo Island Gourmet Gallop
A celebration of Kangaroo Island food and wine, including its supert local cheeses, honey and olive oil. There’s also bands and entertainment for the kids - plus a fantastic day of racing.

Ceduna Oysterfest
Ceduna shows off its country hospitality during this fabulous festival. If you go for the fine fresh seafood, you’ll want to stay for the music, dance and parties. Kicking off with a colourful opening celebration on Saturday morning, the Oysterfest celebrations don’t let up until the final evening of festivities. Adults will love the array of concerts and gourmet treats, while kids are well catered for with story telling, hands-on workshops and competitions.

McLaren Vale Sea and Vines
Want to enjoy a weekend of gourmet delights, live music and world-class wines in gorgeous Mediterranean-style surroundings? Here, South Australia’s premier chefs and restaurants have joined forces with local wineries to create mouth-watering menus complemented by great wine and live entertainment throughout the region.

Riverland Renaissance - Berri
Savour the flavours of the Riverland as the region’s wineries; restaurants and caterers come together to present their finest products at this laid-back event, with live music and river cruises. Held over two weeks, the Riverland Renaissance brings these elements together and celebrates the region’s way of life, and invites people from other areas to share in this festivity.

Robe Village Fair
Situated along South Australia’s most magnificent Limestone Coast lies the historic seaside resort of Robe. For one weekend in November, this charming coastal town hosts the flavours, colours and music of the Robe Village Fair.

Schutzenfest - Adelaide
Enjoy the Oompah music, dancing, food - and of course, the beer - at Adelaide’s annual German festival, Schutzenfest. There are plenty of stalls serving traditional German food. Enter the Strong Arm Beer Stein Lifting competitions!

Tastes of the Outback
Wine and dine your way through the Flinders Ranges and Outback, indulging in fine regional food and wine accompanied by world-class entertainment.
